Ophibre's "REFERENCE" speaks poetically through manipulated and continually mutating sonic metaphors. In two movements, we shift from an atonal yet interactive environmental impression to a floating melodic drift accompanied by layered field recordings.
Set to stand alone with a strong physical presence is Ophibre's "REFERENCE". This sonic sculpture communicates through complex interconnected paths that breathe as natural forces allow them to adapt.
The track begins with a prickly textural abstraction, both organic and mechanical, and then continues to a melodic and psychedelic outgrowth of the original movement.
Unified by layers of recordings, the first half of "REFERENCE" is shaped by the experiences of the past, not directly representational but guided by spiritual and intellectually developed sonic imagery.
The floating quality of atonal noise creates a moving mirage of thoughts and memories that are shifted and refracted through the second movement. The melodic movement solidifies the references to the past as it allows for meditative tones to set a common focus that acts as a guide to self-awareness.
